Visitors will experience a truly fascinating lantern trail as they explore the lantern trail around the beautifully landscaped grounds of Roundhay Park. The paths, greenery, bushes, and trees will be illuminated with stunning hand-sculpted lanterns in all shapes and sizes. Along the route visitors will uncover multi-colored lanterns at every twist and turn of the trail, offering amazing family photo opportunities and vividly lit scenery, making for a magical cultural Xmas experience. 

Magical Lantern Festival Yorkshire - Lantern Highlights

Xmas Tree Scene 

Visitors will six-meter high, full decorated Xmas tree lantern surrounded by lantern wrapped presents, snowman and reindeer, together creating a memorable festive scene. 

Beijing's Temple of Heaven

An impressive eight-meter high lantern recreation of Beijing's Temple of Heaven. A complex of buildings which were constructed from 1406 to 1420 during the reign of the Yongle Emperor, who was also responsible for the construction of the Forbidden City in Beijing. This superb lantern structure and its architecture is the most impressive and largest cultural lantern at the festival. 

Penguins & Polar Bears on Ice

Xmas is not complete without penguins or polar bears. We have produced a stunning larger-than-life lantern scene of a colony of penguins and a pack of polar bears resting on a glacier of ice.

Shark & Whale Ocean Scene

Along the route, visitors will see a stunning underwater lantern scene recreating a shark and whale swimming amongst the coloured reef.
